With yodelling and whistling, surely an inspiration for FM. just how much yodelling and whistling is there in popular music for Alison to have been inspired by? Frank Ifield and Roger Whittakar?

All except where I have typed back or forward arrows are typed as above, the arrows are < & > You then close the blue quote box with back arrow/block quoteForward arrow at the end of the wording you want in the box. With no gap between th…

Trouble is, you cannot post the code without it embedding like above. I will try to describe the text that puts any words in that blue box. You have to start with a back arrowblockquote rel="Whickwithy"forward arrow

Yeah, I've had that. I've actually opened another quote box at times and lifted the code that puts text in the blue box and pasted that into the new 'quote' I am trying to do. Quirky, but I am nothing if not tenacious!

Moving waves was one of the first albums I bought from memory ( the actual first being Tubular Bells). The yodelling was not Jan, it was Thijs Van Leer who played the organ and was the primary vocalist. He was still in thrall of Prog I would guess.…

Good luck with quotes, Stoneheart. Easier just to copy and paste. If WW, by quotes you mean like this, I've never had a problem. Just click the 'quote' tab between the date and 'flag' at the top of s comment and type in the…

Something a bit less known (for those old enough) from Jan Akkerman and Focus. Gary Moore, Carlos Santana, all these guys were influencing each other and pushing the bar of the virtuoso guitarist higher and higher. Great Hammond sound in the backgr…

So, I fancied a bit of 70's Euro rock and I love the guitar work of Jan Akkerman and this only had one place to go..

No, but posting anything here aside from pithy comments is a challenge depending on the platform you are using. Posting vids from YouTube and also photos is a black art. If in doubt, suggest you ask the collective.

thanks Urban_Tribesman. I'm used to the Goldfrapp message board ducking and diving and being killed off but getting on this time was a mare. As @Whickwithy would say, you have traversed the first circle of Hell. More challenges to come.

At no point did that remix get down, felt stressed just listening to it I know what you mean. The original song does not have a particularly complex structure. The only nod towards 'middle 8' is the section where they distort Alison's…

Tracking Down the Frapp
I remember one of the early videos had footage from Alison obviously on a tour bus or car with her camera trained out of the window with a stream of Telegraph poles going by. A recurring theme in her early films.

Well, Hot Chip did support Goldfrapp during the Supernature tour. Before HC had broken the market. We thought they looked like Lithuanian Taxi Drivers! They had a little toy monkey that banged the drums during one song.
